Bali Boat history




The Indonesian archipelago stretches for more than 3,000 miles east to west and is the largest island (19.000) complex in the world. The sea has inevitably influenced Indonesian history. Not surprisingly, the boat became a pervasive metaphor in literary and oral tradition and in the arts in Indonesia.In Bali
the canoes are intimately intertwined with the lives of the people, and strong traditions prescribe how the canoe must be built and launched.
